This year, handset makers were exhaling more vapor than anyone - eager to compete with the iPhone and to cash in on the excitement around Android and GPS-enabled services, the mobile sector was ripe with empty vows. Gamers had it rough again this year, too, as several key titles failed to ship on time. Bet you can guess what #1 will be.

Tired

I’m tired. I’d like to complain, but the public nature of the blog basically prohibits that. So, that’s about it. I’m very tired.

Video Conferencing Christmas

Posted on Thursday 25 December 2008

We setup a skype video call this morning with South Carolina and celebrated Xmas using video conferencing. It was a little surreal, but effective in connecting us. It’s a bummer that my brother in AZ couldn’t join. Nonetheless, it was still nice and reminded me of something a bit too futuristic. Now we’re going to visit some people. We might see a movie, but I’m definitely playing video games. I got three new games for Christmas. I’m going to force myself to stay inside on Satuday and Sunday and log some serious game hours (which is anything over 2). Steph is working Saturday morning, so I’m going to get some quality time then. That’s my holiday summary. Pretty low key, but a good time…and the video conferencing was kind of a nice new thing. I hope everyone else has a good day! Merry Christmas!

kinda scary

The most energetic particles in the electromagnetic spectrum could pose a danger to commercial airline passengers. About every 3000 hours of flying time, a plane is hit with a bolt of lightning. Recently, spacecraft have found gamma rays can be created by thunder storms and the rays could be intense enough to cause radiation sickness.

1981 Murder of Adam Walsh (John Walsh’s Son) is Solved!

Posted on Tuesday 16 December 2008

from digg and msnbc:

I posted this because the Adam Walsh abduction terrified me as a child. I was born in Hollywood, Florida and shopped at the mall where he was abducted from. I was also the same age at the time and the story was in the national and local news for a longtime. As a result, we were barraged with ’stranger danger’ techniques and training all during our elementary education. It ranked up there with nuclear war or having a terminal disease on the childhood ‘fear-o-meter’. Nonetheless, I’m glad they closed the case.

Authorities in South Florida announced Tuesday that they’ve finally solved the 1981 killing of Adam Walsh, whose father later gained fame as the host of “America’s Most Wanted.” Hollywood police held a news conference to close the case of the abduction and homicide of 6-year-old Adam.

Still here…

Posted on Tuesday 16 December 2008

I haven’t been able to blog in about a week. I spent the last week in Harrisburg and tending to related business issues. I spent this weekend and Monday/Tuesday with my little sister, brother-in-law and niece visiting. There just hasn’t been time.

It was wonderful to get to see my niece–Grace. However, babies are tiring and demanding. So darn cute though…

Work was exhausting today, both physically and mentally. Today was actually one of the more difficult days I’ve had in awhile. I don’t care to rehash it though. Let’s just say it wasn’t the most pleasant of days.

Our Christmas shopping is finally done, even though we didn’t have much to do (we imposed a tight budget). I’m hoping to wrap some this weekend. We have several holiday related parties to attend to as well.

I’ll do a full update before the New Year, but in the interim…I’ll probably just be posting stuff from digg.

Be well. Be evil. Happy Holidays.

When Google pulled out of its proposed search advertising deal with Yahoo last month, it was chief legal counsel David Drummond who made the announcement. He cited concerns of a “protracted legal battle,” but only now do we learn that the Justice Department was only three hours away from filing an antitrust lawsuit to block the deal.

Woman Finds 14 Baby Pythons In Bedroom

Posted on Tuesday 2 December 2008

from digg:

(btw, I love snakes)

An Australian woman says she hated snakes even before she found 14 young carpet pythons in her bedroom. A snake catcher believes a female python living on the roof laid her eggs there and the babies slithered down through air-conditioning vents. Since carpet pythons usually lay 25 to 30 eggs, the woman could have some more unwelcome guests.
