Wind power is one of the fastest growing forms of alternative energy in the world. More and more, wind power mills are seen in the countryside, in large wind farms and for the most part, away from city life. But a new form of wind power is now designed to work in an urban environment.
Despite all the inspiring talk about windmills & solar panels, it’s difficult to see how Obama will reach his goal without relying on nuclear power. Commercial reactors currently provide 20% of the nation’s power, but accounts for 70% of the country’s emission-free energy. So, will he become the nation’s cheerleader-in-chief for nuclear power?
It turns out we’re going to probably need to replace our electric stove top (we knew this), and also the oven (a new addition). Ugh! This is going to cost a bundle and require a partial re-build of the kitchen–it never ends. Ahh, the joy of being homeowners. Our kitchen is pretty tiny; small appliances are a necessity…so is a pile of money.
Enough whining, it is what it is. We will deal with it. However, we would have much preferred it didn’t happen around the holidays. It’s also taking major money from other important household projects (I’ll obsess over those later). Oh well. So it goes…

I’m not going to blog, except maybe post digg links, until after the Thanksgiving break. I need to unwind, spend time with my wife, fix some things around the house, decorate for Xmas and generally ‘veg’ out. However, this is my place to note a few of the things I’m thankful for:
My Wife
My family (I don’t know what I’d do without them)
An Obama Presidency
Life (simple and obvious, but often overlooked)
My Job/TRIPIL
My friends (they’re few, but highly prized)
The amazing staff I work with
Our pack of dogs
ADAPT
Grace
Our new home
My wife (she merits mentioning twice)
There’s so much more, this has been a pretty good year, but I’m not going to get in to much more detail as it would appear hokey.
Thank you everyone.
This is awesome. I need these.

These illustrative arm slings show onlookers exactly how you broke that arm, so you can save precious seconds from not having to repeat that boring story. Of course, your coworkers seeing this will then ask about where you got the sling design, how exactly you fell down the stairs when you live on the first floor of a one story house, and why you’re such a big liar. A quick search turned up nothing on where these originated, so if anyone knows, post it in the comments!
Steph just came home and informed me that while I’m in Harrisburg next month, she’s going to reupholster the couch. She’s been reading about it on some eco-friendly DIY websites.
I hope it goes well, but the news is a little disconcerting. She has a lot of skill with these things, so if anyone can pull it off, it’s her.
On the other hand, our stovetop/range just broke and this is going to be an expensive undertaking.
If it works, we have a seemingly new couch, if it doesn’t…well… Ikea has some good deals I guess.
I really do admire her for attempting this project.
Things not to do when you’re arrested for assault - keep singing ‘Spider-Pig’ from The Simpsons Movie when in the back of the Police van. Result? 8 months in jail for the assault, and a further 3 months for singing.
I was looking at my server logs today and noticed a hit from Quantico, specifically quantico.nmci.usmc.mil. Quantico is the home of the the Marine Corps (one of their biggest bases), also it’s the home of their intelligence division . Quantico hosts the FBI training center and the DEA training center, as well. I hope whoever was looking found something interesting, although it probably means nothing (I’ve actually had much more suspicious hits before). My life is a pretty ‘open book’, so I encourage any feds to look around. If there’s anything you need, I’m sure you can find me.
Mark Camm, 43, was unsteady on his feet and could barely talk because of his neurological condition. But instead of taking him to the nearest hospital, officers assumed he was drunk and disorderly and arrested him. Not once did the officers enter his cell to carry out a routine examination, preferring instead to look through the grate of the door.
Okay, I’m back, updates are below. I’m going to try and keep up with doing a couple of updates a week.
On the home front, we still have some boxes (hidden in closets) to unpack, but we’re basically moved in and setup. It’s great. The house looks pretty good
Work is going well, albeit hectic and busy. We’re starting a bunch of new projects, so I expect things to be really active during the winter…this was traditionally a slower time. Again, I’m blessed to be working with a great team of people.
Not much else is happening. I’m looking forward to playing with the new Xbox/Netflix update. My iPhone is still an amazing device and the Otterbox is the best case…even Rottweiler proof. Our dogs are doing well. Ferndando continues to be ‘honored’ by being allowed in bed. We started a facebook group at work (ask me for details). Steph continues to be a wonderful wife. My family is doing fine, despite a little scare. Obama won the presidency.
Things are pretty good. Woo hoo!

This shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. Shame on you if it is.
Documents obtained by civil liberties groups under a Freedom of Information Act request suggest that “triggerfish” technology can be used to pinpoint cell phones without involving cell phone providers at all.

Scientists are in an unprecedented project to restore Japan’s largest coral reef by planting thousands of baby corals growing on tiny ceramic beds.
In a desperate attempt to prevent his power from being turned off, a father chained himself to the meter outside his home saying his daughter, who requires a feeding tube and other electrical equipment, could die. The family owed $2,000 dollars in bills, and an anonymous donor has since paid off the debt after the father’s heroics.
Today is my first day back online doing any kind of real blogging. Although, this will be my only post for today–most likely.
I’m going to spend the rest of the day with my wife. I’ll post the general updates this week, for sure. I also hope to get back to digg’ing.
To the left is a photo of our living room. The large butterfly painting was done by my great grandmother. We have two other pieces of her work in the house.
Everything is organized, more or less. The storage room is fixed up as well. My only mission left is to put the carpet out in the rec room downstairs.
The rest of the pictures of the house can be seen here.
Special thanks to my wonderful wife, who was the driving force behind this endeavor.
The house is just about unpacked and organized. I hope to return to blogging tomorrow and to post pictures of the new place.
Thanks for waiting. This channel will resume broadcasting shortly.
The revolution will be televised.
