Temporary Hiatus

Posted on Tuesday 30 September 2008

I’m going on a temporary hiatus from blogging. The mac is in the shop (again), it was actually shipped off this time.My iPhone was also replaced this weekend-twice. Anyway, using Steph’s P-III just isn’t the same.

I have so much to do around the house. Until the office and extra room are unpacked and organized, I’m not posting anymore. After that much is done, and we get back the mac, I’ll go back to blogging.

Minor updates can still be found on twitter and facebook.

Of drywall and water…

Posted on Friday 26 September 2008

It’s been a very busy week. Work has been a little nuts. The house is a disaster of boxes and more boxes. Steph is still running the show. I really need to find the energy to contribute more.

The drywall guy called off today, so we still have that to do. I’m obsessing over the areas that need fixed.

Our plumbing problem was quite the adventure. We ended up having to have most of the bathtub plumbing rebuilt…fixtures and pipes. We basically did everything except a new tub. Nice big bill too.

Tomorrow, we’re putting in a new mailbox and a different plumber is coming over to hookup the “in fridge” water and icemaker. We’ve spent a tremendous amount of money and tomorrow will be no different.  Hopefully things will settle soon and we can actually enjoy our home. Oh, yeah, the mortgage is due in 4 days too.

Wow.

I still wouldn’t change a thing.

Mac screen

The inverter on my home macbook still seems to be malfunctioning. It needs to go back in the shop. ugh.

My work mac is still acting up too.

My iPhone still has a burnt pixel.

Apple, at least this week, is annoying me.

However, they still make a superior product.

I’ve become a total fanboy.

Back From ADAPT-update

Posted on Tuesday 23 September 2008

I’m back from ADAPT and today was my first full day of work in over a week. It was quite the day and every single minute was packed. Very busy and high tension. Nonetheless, there is nothing that is insurmountable. All things are possible.

On the home front, we have a pretty big leak in the bathroom. Thankfully, the leak is only dripping into the bathtub and is not affecting anything structurally. However, it requires shutting off the water (a major inconvenience) . I also uncovered some really poorly repaired drywall. We’re very tight, on the budget front, but we’ll figure out a way to fix it. Hopefully someone can refer me to a qualified and economical repair person. I don’t do drywall.

Other than that, life is still full of stress–related to moving. I feel an air of malaise. Although we’re making headway, a little each day, it’s too slow for my liking. Steph is the engine that keeps everything moving. She has really taken on most of the initiative since we moved in. I’m very proud of her progress and discipline.

Well, that’s about it for now. More updates in the coming weeks. Pics soon…well, not really soon…eventually.

Working on ADAPT Website

Posted on Tuesday 16 September 2008

Tom Olin snapped this candid photo of me, while working on the ADAPT web galleries.

Notice, I don’t have my Mac, my Windows partition crashed hard and my Mac is temporarily out of action. There’s a licensing issue, due to permissions errors. This has made working a bit more difficult. Thankfully, I was able to borrow a lowly PC. Keep checking out www.adapt.org and www.duhcity.org !! Check out their Twitter page too

ADAPT

Posted on Tuesday 16 September 2008

No time to blog about the action, too busy working and protesting. Keep reading updates at ADAPT.org and DUHcity.org. We had a really long day today, we started around 3 or 4 am and I just got back to the room (It’s 10pm). There are still photos to resize and upload…and back on the streets tomorrow morning.

Tired, but having a blast.

Getting ready for ADAPT-General update

Posted on Thursday 11 September 2008

I’m getting packed for ADAPT/DC. Much of my time seems to be spent packing lately. I’m also working on correcting some issues with the ADAPT photo galleries. During the actions, in addition to protesting, I assist Tom Olin and upload his photos to the ADAPT website. While in DC, I’ll also be posting links on my personal blog to ADAPT news/photos/videos.

That’s pretty much it.

The house is slowly starting to take shape. Steph is doing a great job organizing and unpacking. I can’t wait until we’re settled in. Although, I have the sinking feeling we will be fixing and improving things forever.  Within a couple of months, I’ll post pics.

Enuff! See you in DC!

In new place/Quick update

Posted on Wednesday 3 September 2008

I’ve got a semi-permanent internet connection setup. We’re in the new place. We finished emptying out the old place on Monday. We got hot water yesterday evening. Somewhere along the way, I got the router working. We have boxes EVERYWHERE and can’t find anything. It’s maddening for someone with OCD. Nonetheless, we’re getting by okay. Although, I’m out of clean clothes. The dogs are a little spooked and prone to barking in the middle of the night. Hopefully this will stop soon, I really want to get along with the neighbors. Steph is already back to work, I’m staying at home to recover and clean some things up. It will be at least a month until we’re unpacked. I’m really beatup and exhausted. I need to get some rest, somehow, if there’s any hope of going to ADAPT. I still need to catchup with work email, even though I’ve been scanning it (this will take a couple of days). And another adventure begins…

Thanks to Sean, Linda, Jimmy, Glen, Cammy and Brandon . We couldn’t have done it without you.
