This blog will not be updated until the ADAPT action is well underway. I have to hunker down and get through a pile of paperwork at the office. There’s a tremendous amount, on numerous fronts, that needs done before I can leave. No more rants until I’m completed. Bye.
My website has been running a McCain Ad for three days. It’s pretty consistently on the main page. I find this terribly amusing.
I haven’t bought a pair of shoes in almost two years, and my shoes are looking pretty ratty. Plus, I need some decent kicks before ADAPT.
So, we left the safety of the homestead and went to Robinson. I ended up buying three pair of shoes, the requisite brown and black for work. I also splurged on a pair of casual shoes. Shoes are expensive. The mall, unsurprisingly, remains an unpleasant place.
My stress and frustration level are rather high, it hasn’t been an easy week. So, I went into the office this morning for a little bit. When I got home, I did some light yard work, mostly weeding and the grass. I feel somewhat better. Although I’m noticing that I’m getting sore at points where I injured myself in the car wreck (still no car back). I’ve got a few more errands to run to get ready for ADAPT. Other than that, I’m hoping for an uneventful weekend.
It will be one additional week tomorrow and we still don’t have my car back. We were told it was done yesterday. We went to pick up the car and it was throwing an “airbag” warning and one of the seat belts is still busted. So, it went back in the shop and new parts are being ordered. This is a giant mess.

oooooh, this is sweet. not very practical, but nonetheless amazing…if yr into retro geek culture and the mod scene.

We’re still reeling from Ben Heck’s amazing PS3 laptop but the man just hit us again with this amazing Apple IIGS laptop. Based off an original IIGS motherboard, the one-of-a-kind laptop features a 15-inch color screen, custom acrylic keyboard, a CompactFlash-based hard drive, and — most importantly a glowing blue IIGS logo that flashes yellow.
ADAPT is two weeks away…more or less. I’m getting excited. I need a recharge and ADAPT normally does this. Of course, I return exhausted, beaten and broke. It’s a mental recharge. It doesn’t matter though. There’s nothing like seeing and feeling the power of ADAPT in the streets. It’s going to be exceptionally crazy this year as it’s the 25th Anniversary of ADAPT.
However, two weeks is a long time and I need the recharge now. It will come soon enough, I suppose.
The army’s machine-gun wielding, insurgent-slaying robot SWORDS is no longer spraying foes with hot doom in Iraq. Actually, it never got the chance to notch a single frag, and never will. Apparently, there was an incident where “the gun started moving when it was not intended to move.”
A private security firm managed by former Secret Service officers spied on myriad environmental organizations throughout the 1990s and the year 2000, thieving documents, trying to plant undercover operations and even collecting Social Security numbers according to new documents. Among their clients: WalMart, Taco Bell, the NRA and the Carlyle Group.
I still don’t have my car. It’s been a ridiculous amount of time –a few days short of a month so far. The only thing that keeps me from throttling someone is the soothing fact that I’m going to get a lawyer. There’s only so much that someone can take.
I think one place American business went astray is when it become vogue to use the word “issues” in lieu of “problems”. Issues are something you ruminate and generally give thought and discussion to. Problems are things we solve. Businesses have problems. Issues are for theorists.
My frustration level is reaching its peak.
Again, I’m thankful for the people I work with and my family, especially my doting wife. I would be nowhere without her.
This too, shall pass.

I’ve rediscovered Logo, the language that was developed to teach programming to kids. I was blessed to go to an elementary school where Logo was taught. My parents even bought the cartridge for my Atari 800. Using a tutorial page I was able to remember the basics, then I was able to teach my wife elementary programming. Very Cool. I missed Logo and didn’t realize it. So I downloaded an “updated” version for OS X. Wonderful.
