I don’t know how I feel from the trailers, but I came across “American Zombie”. I think it screened recently at SXSW.It’s apparently about ‘high functioning’ zombies in America. I suppose Romero’s zombie keep getting smarter. I’m sure there’s commentary here. Unlike some folks, anything with Zombie in the title is at least worth checking out for me
Couple new pics of the dogs. Steph’s dad and stepmom gave us a kickbutt wireless videocamera to monitor the dogs….so we moved Riot and Virgil into their Uncle Bacon’s former room. There’s a few more in the gallery.
Okay, along with my aero garden project, I started a cactus garden a couple days ago. Basically I started a couple of discount shelf cactii in a big bath a few years ago. After my wife found something called ‘babytoes’ , I replanted everything and started over again.
Lowes had a mess of little things on sale and picked up a Cinnamon Cactus, Pincushion, the aforementioned baby toes, some split rock, a haworthia retusa and a couple of grafted cactii.
If yr still reading this post, you’re either related to me, or veryvery bored.
Btw, the above pic is not mine. Mine is below:

Okay…I can’t stop laughing…but a number of reasonably smart people have called me this evening concerning balancing eggs and the vernal equinox. Come on!!!! Chickens and chicken byproducts are exempt from the laws of gravity because of the minor change in gravitational pull of the sun at its northern most point over the equator? Yes, it does cause some issues with geostationary satellites, but that’s radiation related and more relative to the position of the satellite compared to the sun. The moon, which has immense pull over the tides of the worlds oceans, somehow, someway has not yet effected the eggs in my fridge, even during a tsunami. Likewise, the sun, has not yet had an effect on my eggs or chickens. Once, I did let egg salad go bad in the sun and I kinda got sick…but I don’t think it’s the same.

The Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society has posted a life size picture of a Blue Whale! Its so big that a map of the photograph is included to make it easier for you to know what you are seeing.

file under: wacky until further notice.
At the only hospital in the capital of this tiny West African nation, a 3-year-old AIDS patient named Suleiman receives his daily dose of medication — a murky brown concoction of seven herbs and spices served out of a bottle that once contained pancake syrup.
Incidently, I keep getting requests/hits from ahost.wqed.com. I never knew who this was…but I think I might now. If it’s whom I think it is. Give me a damn call or email. I hope yr doing well.
If it’s just some random person from wqed, well, ‘allo to you too.
Saw this on msnbc, from the ap. Nonetheless, Miyamoto continues to impress me with his general creativity and unusual understanding of the world…and it shows in his work. I know I agree with most of the sentiments. Yes, I loved destroying the undead in Dead Rising and really enjoyed Gears of War, but I’m addicted to Viva Pinata…which is nothing like most games.![]()
SAN FRANCISCO - Video game developers should resist the temptation to produce only sequels of established hits and games based on horror and revenge, Nintendo Co.’s top designer said Thursday.
Video game guru Shigeru Miyamoto said his industry’s reputation has suffered in the past decade. Designers have failed to deliver titles that bring joy to the widest possible spectrum of players, focusing too often on hard-core gamers and their lust for gore and realism, he said.
“I always want that first reaction to be emotion, to be positive — to give a sense of satisfaction, glee,” Miyamoto told thousands of developers attending the annual Game Developer Conference here. “Certain obstacles may temporarily raise feelings of suspense, competition, even frustration. But we always want that final result, that final emotion, to be a positive one.”
Miyamoto’s emphasis on plucky, fantastic, upbeat games contrasts with the slew of violent but popular games today — titles such as “Grand Theft Auto,” “Mortal Kombat” and “Resident Evil.” A growing number of politicians, educators and psychiatric experts cite studies linking violent games and aggressive behavior.
Designers take Miyamoto’s lectures seriously. Time Magazine called him “the Stephen Spielberg of video games.”
Miyamoto created titles such as “Mario Brothers,” “Donkey Kong” and “The Legend of Zelda.” Together, those titles have sold about 288 million copies.
Miyamoto — an ambidextrous doodler who plays guitar and banjo — joined Nintendo in 1980 to work on coin-operated arcade games. He’s worked on every game console Nintendo has released over nearly three decades, including the popular Wii, which debuted last year.
He also helped developed “Super Mario Galaxy,” an obstacle course-style game he previewed Thursday. It will come out later this year.
I just realized Cartoon Network airs old Tom and Jerry Cartoons during the day. I added them to my Tivo/DVR. Already had the pleasure of checking out a Chuck Jones classic. It’s amazing the mixture of academic references with violent slapstick still works. Genius.
I’m tired. Very very tired. The kind of tired where, if the toliet were far enough away, I would surely urinate myself. Gladly. Unfortunately, the computer is close…the restroom is kind of far. But I think I’m good for now.
Reluctantly, I sold my custom built tweaked-out media server. But I needed the money, it went to a good person. I have an off-the-shelf HP box, running Vista. It’s basic, but it’s stone quiet and does the job. A new OS change is always unusual. More changes…
My brother has moved to Tuscon, Az and we all miss him terribly but are also extremely proud. He lived with my wife and I, off and on, during the past couple years. At times it was difficult while he was in school, but the past couple months were quite enjoyable. Nonetheless, he’s off to bigger and better things… we hope to visit soon.
Speaking of bigger and better, ahem, my sister and her husband are up from SC. My sister is six months pregnant and starting to show. It’s rather unusual. I still think of her as just being able to doing adult things , like driving on the highway…and she’s standing before me about to be a mother. So, she’s here for a couple of days and that’s fun. Having her husband here gives me a good video game companion too. And since he hasn’t played 360 much… I still have something of a chance.
There are other changes I hope to talk about soon. Well, actually they’re kind of scary too… I’ll be updating things and writing more when it’s a little more concrete. Just digg and gadget posts in the interim. Nonetheless, updates in the regular places:
A cold war propaganda inspired interpretation of Mario. Comrade Mario, we salute you.
Check it out.
