You can’t make this stuff up. I present: Baby Toupee.com

Awesome! Capitalism and creativity are a dangerous combination. I’m just jealous I didn’t think of it.

As soon as I showed this to Steph, she told me about Wiggles Dog Wigs. Amazing. I love America.

Apartment complex tries to evict man with service animal

Posted on Tuesday 5 February 2008

from the Observer-Reporter:

The George Washington wants to kick out a man who hotel representatives say is a squatter. The man contends, however, that he is being evicted because he has a service dog.

I know the details of this story well, and it’s a clear cut case of discrimination. The George Washington Hotel is throwing out Bob Milan (the gentleman pictured) because of his service animal. They are taking further retaliatory action against TRIPIL and other tenants with disabilities. End of conversation.

Police-Belgian Malinois

Posted on Monday 21 January 2008

3rd Video Test. This is my favorite video of Malinois’ working…I know they look like German Shepherds , they’re not. Video posting seems to be going okay now.

2nd Video Test-Protection Rottweiler

Posted on Monday 21 January 2008

This is a second test to check video posting with the new software and theme update. No need to comment on the crappy video please. It was my first attempt with final cut pro on a Mac. The transitions and effects are cheesy, I know…so is the music, but it was free.

Incidentally, this was a really bad working day for my dog too, but slo-mo effects and the music seem to help…

Canine Bite Strength - Rottweiler

Posted on Sunday 20 January 2008

I’m still working on the site…trying to get video and ad serving to work properly.

Below is an excerpt from National Geographic with Brady Barr, comparing bite strength among German Shepherds, Rottweilers and PitBulls. Of course, the Rottie has the highest bite strength.

Happy Birthday Riot

Posted on Tuesday 13 November 2007

My beloved buddy Riot is four today…and I never thought I’d let him live that long.

Most people who know Riot find it hard to believe he was such a little PITA as a puppy, thus the name Riot. It’s a destructive moniker and it fit(s). The dog really was mean and awful, there’s no way around it. Some dogs are driven to work from birth, Riot is one of those dogs.
After much training, no really…. a LOT of training classes… He’s practically a wonderdog. Riot is skilled in obedience (off and on leash), loves to visit people and is adept at protection work.

However, and most importantly he’s a pet and a loyal companion.

So, Happy Birthday Captain Bitey!!!!

Dogs Can Read Human Facial Expressions - Wolves and Apes Cannot

Posted on Monday 8 October 2007

For a long time, domesticated dogs were seen as just the slobbering, dumbed-down ancestor of the wild wolf. Dogs, though, have learned a few tricks of their own through the millennia — and can teach us a lot about ourselves.

Unusual Uses of Animals in the Military

Posted on Friday 5 October 2007

Somebody hit upon the inspiration that since cats have such a strong disdain of getting wet and always land on their feet that if you attached a cat to a bomb and drop it in the vicinity of a ship, the cat
’s instinct to avoid the water would force it to guide the bomb to the enemy’s deck.

Michael Vick’s old jerseys put to good use (PIC)

Posted on Thursday 23 August 2007

I haven’t had a chance to really make a fully formed comment, but Michael Vick is a piece of human filth. Really, he’s not fit to live among the rest of us. The man decided to adopt a faux gangster pose and expose himself as a sociopath, not a wise decision when you have the world by the cajones.

I’m tired of hearing about him losing endorsements, or whether he will be allowed to play in the NFL… he’s a menace who killed dogs and made a business of it!! I have more respect for cosmetic testing labs than people like this. He shouldn’t have been permitted to plead. Given the statements and evidence, it’s clear he was the ringleader. Why should he be allowed to get a reduced sentence? It continues to prove that celebrity…and more importantly–money, can buy you anything in America.

Disgusting.

Not a fully formed comment, but the best I got.

from digg

The Atlanta Humane Society is now accepting Michael Vick t-shirts and jerseys. They’ll be used as bedding, chew toys and rags for cleaning up dog doo. Which is only appropriate, right, Rocky

from shinyshiny

My cats were alarmed to hear that a large dog has been equipped with a metal prosthetic paw to replace a natural one that was infected with a tumour. Since the prosthetic has been permanently grafted to the radius of the dog’s leg, skin can actually grow over it, leading to a Terminator-type effect in case of scrapes. Officiating veterinary surgeon Noel Fitzpatrick said, “it will act as a model for human amputees in the future and provides hope for people without feet or hands.”

New Dog Pics…

Posted on Friday 23 March 2007

Couple new pics of the dogs. Steph’s dad and stepmom gave us a kickbutt wireless videocamera to monitor the dogs….so we moved Riot and Virgil into their Uncle Bacon’s former room. There’s a few more in the gallery.

Dog buried alive

Posted on Wednesday 17 January 2007

The cries for help went unanswered for who knows how long. It was about 10:45 p.m. Saturday when Melissa Vanderpool and Robbie Wilson first heard the whimpers. They thought it was just a neighbor’s whiny puppy, yearning for attention.

World’s First Hypoallergenic Cats : On Sale Now

Posted on Sunday 24 September 2006

From the BBC and digg.com

The world’s first specially-bred hypoallergenic cats have gone on sale in the United States.

US biotech firm Allerca says it has managed to selectively breed them by reducing a certain type of protein that triggers allergic reactions.

The cats will not cause the red eyes, sneezing and even asthma that some cat allergy sufferers experience, except in the most acute cases.

Despite costing $3,950 (£2,104), there is already a waiting list to get one.

Allerca first started taking orders for genetically engineered hypoallergenic cats back in 2004.

Makes me almost think about maybe wanting to get a cat, someday. Oh yeah, despite the picture at left, they aren’t hairless.

Rottweiler, Riot on YouTube ( Protection Work )

Posted on Friday 15 September 2006

Here’s a link to my pup, from youtube and google video
RIOT-youtube

RIOT-Google

I’d embed it in the page, but wordpress doesn’t seem to like that.

Anyway, it’s my first attempt at Mac video editing. The audio was an afterthought and the transitions/effects are inappropriate where they are….but it’s all to learn.

Will be putting up more as I practice and refine some things.
